Human Rights Fair
16.07.2019
Starts At
17:00
Ends At
20:00
The aim of the event is to bring together human rights defending organizations and activists based in the regions of Georgia in Tbilisi, thus create a platform for exchange, networking, and communication, as well as starting point for future cooperation.
Considering social and economic disparities between center and regions/remote areas, combined with low level of human rights activism, particularly among ethnic/religious minorities – this networking event will give a unique opportunity to Human Rights organizations, as well as individual activists from the regions of Georgia to exchange in a direct and effective manner with different stakeholders attending the event.
Moreover, the 2019 Fair will host strong and active women, who protect the rights of others, fight against social problems, however, their profile, as well as the causes they fight for, are not well known for the broad public. The role of active women, particularly representing the regions and minority groups, is invaluable, as very often women face challenges not only as human rights defenders but also as women – fighting against gender-based discrimination.
The event will take place on July 16, 2019. The fair will be open from 17:00 until 20:00. The opening/welcoming will start at 17:30.
Event language: Georgian (consecutive interpretation into English will be provided)
IREX Europe, a French-based NGO, and Human Rights House Tbilisi are implementing a project aimed at promoting and strengthening the leadership skills of young women human rights defenders. This 26-month project covers 5 countries of Eurasia with the support of the European Commission.
The project in Georgia is co-funded by Human Rights House Foundation
