Heinrich Boll Foundation Tbilisi office published a book Feminist Mother’s Diaries within the framework of Gender Program. The book analyzes the attitudes of motherhood in patriarchal society and reviews relevant feminist literature. The purpose of this publication is to initiate a discussion about the contradictory aspects of motherhood.

“We have grown up in a culture where womanhood equals motherhood. Motherhood is perceived as a domestic and private practice, defined in terms of feelings and emotions and neglected as an opportunity for rational thinking or political influence.
The book Feminist Mother Diaries problematizes motherhood as a patriarchal institution and asks: Who is a mother? What kind of feelings and experiences are hidden behind the mask of institutionalized motherhood? What kind of frame does nationalist discourse create for motherhood? Where our resources of resistance are hidden and how motherhood can become a source of political influence?

let’s discuss these and other issues together at the presentation. “
