Digital Sentimentality and Looking Inside Out
The exhibition brings together both digital and handcrafted works, with each canvas embodying the intersection of internal and external spaces. In Digital Sentimentality and Looking Inside Out, Tama Kvantaliani invites viewers to explore the delicate boundary between inner experience and external form. Created during a one-month experimental residency at Onetwostudio, each piece encapsulates a layered journey, physically and metaphorically revealing what is hidden by uniquely sewing the back side of the canvas to the front.
Looking Inside Out is further explored digitally in a “sentimentality room,” where an audiovisual installation, with sound by Levan Gvaramidze, envelops the senses. This installation simulates the sensation of entering one’s own thoughts, layering sound, light, and abstract visuals to evoke fragmented memories and the feeling of a digitalized inner world. Text elements appear on some canvases, capturing fleeting thoughts or reflections, adding a personal narrative that feels handwritten and immediate—contrasting with the curated, polished exterior of digital displays.
